Digital Storytelling

A fantastic way to engage students in narrative, structure, composition, digital technology, photography, music, art, point of view...the list will go on forever! Teaching students to create projects through digital literacies allow an opportunity to integrate so many different subjects or learning areas into one - not only this, the teaching activities can start away from the computer. For example, perhaps we are looking at personal histories in the classroom. We can start by researching our own personal histories, gathering digital photos, significant music, examining narrative and story telling/filmic techniques, teaching clarity of expression, point of view and so on. Then, using the computer and internet as a tool, we can begin 'writing' our digital stories and sharing them with the class. I think digital storytelling is an extremely exciting avenue to look into!
